hem, over shoulder to back hem. Slit up front is 28"

What is this shaped like? It is difficult to understand. A drawing of the "footprint" would be helpful.

BEST ANSWER: Think one long rectangle. Fold the rectangle in half, width wise. The back is a square; the corresponding front "square" is divided lengthwise into two rectangles which are the right and left sides; both side are attached to the back square at the shoulders. So you have a back, which is square in shape, and two rectangles forming the front left and right sides.

The shape is a large rectangle; solid back with the opening in the front. The front pieces can be worn straight down like the model in the picture or either front draped across the shoulder. It is an easy garment to wear indoors or outside and can even be worn over a coat for extra warmth. Hope this helps!

It is a large rectangle cut up to the center on the long side. A real ruana ia like a twin bed throw with a slit in the middle for your head. This one just takes that and extends the slit down the middle and you can wear it as a cape or wrap. It's comfortably warm for a crisp fall day.

imagine a rectangular table cloth with a vertical slit down the middle, but only half way down. Catalog makes it hard to figure out but in reality it is very easy to wrap several ways because of the center slit.

What does it mean that the slit is 28 inches up the front if it's a rectangle? Is the rectangle 40"x58" or some other measure? Or is a rectangle with a slit in the middle?

BEST ANSWER: This wrap is essentially a large rectangle (Mine measures 60" X 41" ) that is fringed on the short sides. The rectangle is split lengthwise from the center of the fringed end for about half the length of the long side (mine measures 30", leaving 30" unsplit). The split is centered at the back of one's neck.The unsplit portion then falls over the shoulder blades & back while the two split sections fall to the front over the right & left sides of the body.

It is a rectangle at 40 x 58. One end of the 40" measure has fringe on it. The fringed end has a slit approx. 20" over and 28" up the front. This slit makes it easier to wear in many ways. It really works!
