Rated 3 out of 5�by TheDean Waist adjustment The fastener on the waist adjustment does not hold where set. I experienced a loosing every time I made a change in stance. That is, squatting, leaning over, etc. Fortunately, I always wear suspenders, so I do not "drop my pants" when this happens. The quality of the fabric and construction is good. March 28, 2016

When I sit or bend, they expand and become loose.It's hard to tighten because the "zipper" comes off the track.It looks as if we will have to sew that mechanism tight to my prefer red fit. The size was right, but something about the adjustment part of the waistband didn't feel right to him. The fabric was good, and they were on sale so the price was good, just didn't fit comfortably. I also ordered a pair of autosizer pants and he liked the fit on those, so I ordered more of those for him. July 18, 2015

He had however removed the sewn tag on the waistband and thrown away the return item form. I therefore must hand them over to the Salvation Army. We haven't the funds at the moment to order a larger size, so will wait a few months until we can place another order. February 7, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5�by StevePhoenix Go-to comfort pants These have been my go-to pants for years. The normal stretch waist pants are too tight when I sit. These allow me to adjust so my pants aren't pinching my waist. Three ways to make them better: 1) run the color of fabric all the way into the pocket; sometimes the white shows. 2) add belt loops so can hide the buckles to dress them up if needed 3) pre-wash the fabric a couple of times so it comes to you nice and soft. how long are these pants?

BEST ANSWER: They are not hemmed, however, you can have them hemmed to whatever length you like before shipping.

Are these pants plain front? The photo looks like pleated. The description says plain but no plain front.

BEST ANSWER: Two points:
1) I purchased "Men's Primo Poplin Auto-Sizer Plain Pants Item# 7505255" from www.NormThompson.blair.com . These were indeed plain front. (But if you have any doubts about the item you are looking at you should call their website customer service.)
2) The pants I purchased had no belts loops: instead, the ""auto-sizer" mechanism consisted of 2 small, longitudinal plastic clips, one on either side at the place where the "mini-belt" appears in the photo; the clips did not stretch, but rather adjusted, similar to a belt, with several holes on each one to change the waist size within the range. After I wore the pants about 3 times, one of the clips broke. Because of the shoddiness of the mechanism, I cannot recommend the pants (although I very much understand the appeal of poplin).

What does R stand for?

BEST ANSWER: "R" is not an inseam measurement. It is a measurement of "Rise" -- where the waistband sits on the torso.
In this case, customers are offered a "low" rise (L), asndf s "regular" rise (R).
Here is a good explanation from: Primer Magazine (.com) (2013: 'Pants Rise Explained and Why Low Rise Isn't Always Your Best Choice'):
"Rise is the distance from the middle of the crotch seam (right between your legs) to the top of the waistband. It usually ranges from 7 inches to 12 inches.
Pant rise is important because it determines where your pants sit on your body, which in turn creates your perceived waistline.
Regular Rise: Also called mid rise or normal rise, regular rise is anywhere from 9 to 11 inches and is meant to be worn at your natural waist. Most pants, especially khakis and trousers, have a regular rise.
Low Rise: Worn at your hips, low rise pants are meant to sit well below your natural waist. They became popular during the 60s and 70s (think bell bottoms) and have made a huge comeback over the past few years. Unlike short and mid rise pants, low rise pants are not meant to conform to your natural waist.
Short Rise: These range from 7 to 9 inches and are meant to be worn on your natural waist. Short rise pants are not easy to find, but they are a blessing for men with short legs (which happens to be most guys who are below average height).
Unlike low rise pants, which are meant to be worn at the hip, short rise pants are meant to be worn at the natural waist. They have a shorter rise, which means they won?t have a bunch of extra material in the crotch area, and they will be comfortable on shorter bodies.
Important: Low rise and short rise pants may have the same measurements (e.g., 8? rise) but they will fit differently."

Hello Linda C.,

I am answering your question for my husband. He thinks R stands for regular fit, as opposed to slim fit, or plus size fit. He is 81 years old, wants a traditional fit, and wears 38/32 in Norm Thompson pants. He loves these pants for playing golf. They are cut just right for him...regular. He has a bit of a "tummy," but it's not very big. Good luck.
