I was pleasantly surprised with the fabric, construction, and overall appearance, as well as good fit. Even the packaging gave a very good first impression - as nice as any department store purchase. When looking at the sizes of the tweed sportcoat, I was wondering what the R stood for?

BEST ANSWER: It stands for Regular length. But just a warning. This coat runs small. I ordered my husband a size bigger and it fits beautifully (but order his normal length).

R means regular or average in length and sleeve length, and is not a concern unless the wearer has gorilla-length arms.

"R" stands for Regular, which has to do with the length of the coat.
