Rated 5 out of 5 by MamaMurphyDC Good Eastern European pastry
My Lithuanian husband likes this because it remains him of the coffee cakes from Czech and Polish bakeries in Chicago, his home town.

The coffeecake was tasty, but it was not the delicious flavors we had hoped for. I wouldn't reorder.

The Potica Coffee Cake appeared delicious-looking in the pictures but the real product which arrived 3 hours before our Christmas Eve meal was anything but delicious! It was extremely HARD,DRY and tasteless. It was placed on a cardboard circle, with cardboard sides and honestly, when we tried to cut a piece of the cake, we could not tell the difference between the cake and the cardboard it was sitting on! And, it was not rolled out in the sweet little layers as shown; more like balls of dough thrown into the pan to bake. Sunken areas across the top. Too little icing. Very "flour" tasting. It had to be trashed. And the cake was very expensive!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Lynne Poor packaging. So-so product.
My Slovenian husband agreed to try this product. He was spoiled by a mother and grandmother who cooked in the old country ways. This was adequate at best. There is another online product which is much closer to the old country ways.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Catherinemartina Not the real deal, expensive and not worth it.
I was raised with authentic potica, a light blend of honey, cream, walnuts and thinly layered dough. This was thick, way too sweet and had a card board like dough. I was disappointed. Not enough bang for the buck.

GREAT CAKE FOR SERVING AS A DESSERT OR FOR BRUNCH.
THIS CAKE DOESN'T LOOK L;IKE A COFFEE CAKE; SO YOU CAN USE IT FOR DESSERT!
THE CAKE ISN'T CRUMBLY, AND STANDS UP TO AN INDIVIDUAL SERVING.

This made for the perfect breakfast for guests. It was smaller than I'd hoped but it was delicious.

The overall impact was not impressive. The dough layers were dry, rubbery, and tasteless, kind of like eating moist cardboard. Very disheartening. The filling was ok, but still lacking in zing. I know that European desserts are not as sweet as American versions, but they almost always are fresh and have fullness and richness. This was not overly sweet, but had none of those other characteristics either.
