Chewy Dancing Deer Cookies
As a senior citizen, I've eaten so many cookies, and so many different kinds of cookies, that I thought I'd tasted the best to be found anywhere. And, in fact, no commercial cookie can quite compare with a homemade molasses one right out of the oven. My grandmother made them often, and a warm cookie and glass of milk were ambrosia.
But now there is a cookie that comes close: the Dancing Deer Molasses Clove cookie. Its rich, sweet molasses flavor is irresistible, and its consistency is perfect - chewy but still soft, with none of the brittle quality one so often encounters. In fact, that can be said for all the Dancing Deer Cookies, whose flavor and texture are truly like home-made. The Cherry Almond Chew cookie, with its unique blend of flavors, comes in at a close second, and of course the Snickerdoodle is always a favorite. Chocolate lovers will adore the Triple Chocolate Chip, which I enjoyed, but not with the wild abandon of the others. Because chocolate is offered to us in so many forms, from brownies to candy to ice cream, I find the other flavors more seductive. And they surely did lure me to them. Talk about having a hand in the cookie jar -- mine was in it until the tiniest crumb was eaten. The cookie container, by the way, is lightweight, with an easy-to-lift lid, and it makes a handy cookie "jar."
If you're a cookie lover, do order these cookies. They're worth every penny ---- and every pound.
