Rated 5 out of 5 by Superjack The Vancouver Island Nanaimo Bars are decadent!
We have ordered the Nanaimo Bars several times and they are always delicious. My husband is Canadian so these are his favorites. The bars have a perfect balance of chewy, nutty base, creamy custard and thick chocolate ganache. They are rich and make a nice presentation for guests.

The description made me want to try these and they did not disappoint! Totally delicious - a chocolate lover's dream! My sister and daughter agree wholeheartedly. Thought they were a little pricey - but a 25% off sale plus free shipping brought the cost in line. I will want these again!

Waned to try this new dessert over the holidays. Understand that this is similar to a Boston Creme Pie, except that graham crackers are used for crust and its "creme" is sweeter and denser. The graham crackers in this particular product tasted stale. Definitely not a good value as purchased.

While the bars are good, some of the ingredients are not. These have High Fructose Corn Syrup, Sulfites, Shortening (which I am assuming is the hydrogenated stuff). I was expecting higher quality ingredients. Being a food product, the ingredients really should be listed online. You can call Norm Thompson & they will read the ingredient list to you.

I was born Burnaby, B.C. 1951. My mother used to make these bars, and they were only a Christmas treat. The recipe was lost for many years after we emigrated to California. When found, my Mother started making them again. All the neighbors would to clammor to our home at Xmas hoping for a bite of these wonderful, decadent, rich bars!
So I was hoping that NT's would pass muster. They certainly did!!! I sent a package to my Mother and brothers and how surprised and delighted they were. I can tell anyone that from my experience, these bars match my Mother's, and you won't be disappointed! Tasted fresh and homemade! I will continue to purchase every year!
