I don't have it with me today but it's a great length for me. It just covers my wrists. My underarm length is about 17-18" maybe a little longer. I love, love this coat.

Does water soak through in heavy rain?

BEST ANSWER: I wasn't wearing it during a torrential downpour, but there was a steady rain as I was walking around for an hour or so. And yes, it did soak through! I hadn't realized that most raincoats are only "water-resistant" instead of "waterproof"! But I still liked the raincoat. It's a great weight, comfortable and stylish.

No, water doesn't soak through. This is truly water shedding. I have it in two colors and both work well.

How long is the coat itself in size L?

BEST ANSWER: It measures about 36". I am 5'8" tall and it hits me just above the knee. It is a beautiful and very comfortable coat. I liked it so much that I bought it in two colors, the beige and black.

BEST ANSWER: All I can say is I ordered my regular size (I'm a plus size) and I found the coat to be quite roomy. I live in the Deep south though, so I don't have any really bulky sweaters. But it fit over my work clothes comfortably, and I usually have on either a lightweight twin set or a light jacket over a blouse. I love the coat and wore it all winter. Plus, when it's raining I just pull up the hood and don't have to mess around with an umbrella.

Yes, unless that sweater is really very bulky. This coat is a good for fall / early winter (actually surprisingly warm given the weight) so you would not be likely to be wearing very thick layers under it.

I found the fit to be less-than-generous for this style of coat (I was expecting more room in the bust and hip areas). I think the coat will not fit you well, even without a sweater underneath.

I have a pear shape?.44" x 47"x 52". What is the best size for me? I already own a Gallery anorak jacket in an XL and it fits fine. Shall I do the same with this coat? The style looks to flair out wide like a balmacaan.

My jacket is not particularly flaired. I was attracted by that feature and am disappointed that my jacket doesn't seem to flair like the one in the catalog. I like the jacket, however, so I kept it. (It is not snug but it definitely does not flair.) I would suggest going bigger if you want the room

My hips are 42 and I got a petite large. It does flair out quite a bit and the PL is way more than adequate. The xl should be a plenty good fit for you.

BEST ANSWER: The zip in lining has acetate like sleeves and smooth fabric (not acetate like). The livinig without the zip in lining is acetate like I have never had a problem with sweaters or jackets with either lining

Yes, the basic lining is smooth. The zip-out lining is more woolly in texture. The shell and both linings are all tagged as 100% polyester.

Can sleeves be rolled up for correct length? In the catalog it states it has roll-up sleeves, but a few reviews did not say this. To order I must know this fact. Thank you.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, they absolutely do. I am short, and my arms are short. I had no problem. I think it even looks nicer with more of the contrast color showing.

There are already rolled cuffs. I don't think the coat would look well if the cuffs were to be rolled up further. I think the"roll up sleeves" referred to are the rolled cuff style. Not adjustable.

Does the back have princess seams and how long is the cape?

BEST ANSWER: The back has one center back seam. It does look to taper in a little to the waist and flair out below the waist.

I would not have called it a cape, more of a detached back yoke. Mine measures 7 1/2" at center back. It goes straight across to meet the armhole seam about 2/3 of the way down.

I have long arms and they are fine for me. They cuff though so if you wanted them shorter or longer you could snip the stitches that hold them.

Depend on what you are wearing under the coat. This is the garment size on Medium.
